Marble Countertops
Marble countertops are very similar to granite in every aspect. It is even considered superior in the look, feel, and appeal of granite. However, the major drawback with marble is the durability. Marble counters are susceptible to being stained and damaged. Marble requires a lot of care and attention to avoid any damage to the surface. It is much easier to scratch than granite as well. All of these drawbacks come at an increased price tag. Marble isn’t the ideal choice for countertops, but when it is used as a countertop, it is often confined to smaller areas like a kitchen island or bathroom vanities.
Marble counters can range anywhere from $150 to $500 per square foot. The price tag isn’t very appealing considering the lack of durability it brings.
Marble countertops will not increase the market value of your house anymore than granite or solid surface countertops will. For these reasons we would advise against installing marble in your kitchen.
